The Work
Ghav-ha · 2015–2019
The bull is the oldest working body of the Iranian village: labour, wealth, sacrifice and companionship compressed into one animal. Mashmooli paints it not as symbol but as presence — mass first, contour later.
Oil is pushed across cardboard and paper with palette knife and hand, leaving a hide of pigment that behaves like the animal's own. The smaller watercolour studies of the Yellow Cow trace the same subject at the speed of a sketch.
